Multiple creative careers have enriched my life.
From advertising, to a children's-wear designer, to textiles and surface designs, to an MFA in textiles and mixed media , which launched many artist-in-residencies , that included working with high school students. Which is where I developed my love of teaching.
As an Art Teacher, a lot of energy went into developing my curriculum and, finding new ways to connect my students with Art. However, my creative energy and a great deal of joy, went into making my art samples!
As an art educator, I also advocated for art in general as the District Arts Coordinator, grant writing and facilitating professional development for Art Educators. Additionally I worked with The California Art Project as a Teacher Leader working with multi-subject elementary teachers learn to incorporate the arts into their curriculum.
Today, as a retired art educator, I'm giving my own creativity the space it needs to explore. My creative eye is turning to other arenas. Art making is always present - it is an ingrained practice that manifests in some form or another.
And - Art Advocacy continues to be a large part of what I do now, as a volunteer at my local museum of art.
Making samples was a blast to me... Below are some of my examples for a variety of units.
