A co-taught or TEAM taught, 9th grade course with emphasis on Technology, Arts and Media. This course was developed to provide our 9th graders with a broader sense of the Arts through traditional , digital and mixed media opportunities.
Fall Semester :
Unit 1: Line & Shape - Anchor Works: Alexander Calder, Sol Lewit, Jun Kaneko
Unit 2: Form - Anchor Artists, Concepts, Movements or Exhibitions: Op Art, Positive Negative Space, Patterns, MC Escher
Unit 3: Form - Anchor Works: Roberto Benavidez, James Morrison. Paper Mache techniques. Balance.
Unit 4: Color Theory - Anchor Works: Josef Albers, Benjamin Lowder. Collage and Mosaic techniques with paper.
Spring Semester:
Unit 5: Making Meaning - Anchor Concepts: Art Components, Composition and Layout, Narratives, Story Telling, Symbolic Message Making.
Unit 6: Portraiture - Anchor Concepts: Self-Portraiture, Mixed Media, Digital Media.
Unit 7: Light Up Greeting Cards - Anchor Concepts: Paper Circuitry, Paper Craft
Unit 8: Curating Presentations - Anchor Artists: Curators from local museums. Local Artists.
