Classes

Introduction to Art and Design concepts, methods, theory and processes. Drawing, Making, Doing, Constructing in all manner of  Wet and Dry media. Course includes traditional 2D and 3D creations, Along with items that light up! All in the service of fostering creativity. 

Advanced concepts in Art and Design concepts, methods, theory and processes. It continues where TEAM and Art 1 left off, providing the serious art student an opportunity to build their personal portfolio, or their begin the AP Studio Art portfolio. Advanced art students can also participate in the National Art Honor Society CHS Chapter. 

Advanced concepts in Art and Design concepts, methods, theory and processes. Students in this course build an Arts portfolio for submission to t the AP Studio Art portfolio. Students also participate in the National Art Honor Society CHS Chapter. 

A co-taught 9th grade academy introduction to Technology, Art, and Design, concepts, methods, theory and processes. This course is geared to the 9th grader with 21st learning concepts embedded into curriculum. Students explore a wide range of mixed media.

Intro 2D design course in which students explore visual communication, self-expression, and creative problem solving through the creation of commercial, interactive and fine art. Students apply the creative process in each assignment: Research, Thumbnails, Comprehensive Rough, Critique, and Final Version.

 

This advanced design year long project-studies class expands on knowledge gained in Graphic Design.  Students study advanced concepts in the field of visual communication: typography, design, digital authoring and media arts.   While intermediate to advanced skills are acquired, the primary emphasis is on the generation of ideas, articulating those ideas visually, communicating them to an audience and professionally presenting the outcome.

BHHS

In 2011 Beverly Hills High School established a student driven BHHS Charter of the National Arts Honor Society (NAHS). Their major project was the creation of an on campus Art Gallery space, called The Gallery. NAHS Members would facilitate all aspects of the all Student Art Shows from Theme to Installation - 3 times per year.

CARP

Carpinteria High School established their first chapter of the National Art Honor Society in 2018. With student input, the goals were to 'make the arts more visible on the campus and within the community'.  The outcome was two projects:

1) participating in the Annual iMaddonari 2019 Chalk Festival at the Santa Barbara Mission. 

2) Creating an on campus end of year all school art show.
